April has arrived and with it, the sixth anniversary of Holland Tasting Tours! Starting her own business had never been something Linda Kaiser saw herself doing. As a stay-at-home mom of three, she had plenty of other things to keep her busy. But when her youngest child was preparing to graduate six years ago, she decided to begin a new adventure.
Linda had participated in several different food tours in Chicago, IL and she thought it would be fun for her hometown of Holland, MI to have a food tour too. This chance idea eventually turned into a passion project. Holland had so many great restaurants and intriguing history to offer and a food tour would be a perfect way for people to experience it. Linda dove deep into the study of her hometown. She already loved Holland when she began, but as she learned more, she fell in love with the city all over again. With every new book, story, and newspaper article that Linda read came a new appreciation for what made Holland such a wonderful place. Not only has Holland stayed uniquely connected with its Dutch roots, it has also stayed true to the founders’ values of education, innovation, and faith. It also offers beautiful views with a quaint downtown, colorful tulips, and radiant sunsets over Lake Michigan.
To this day, Linda continues to go on other food tours and pursue new avenues of knowledge about Holland so that her tour is the best it can be. Even after six years as a business owner, she is still a mom (and now an OMA, too!) at heart and loves learning new things and then turning around to share that information with others.
